Wrapping it Up - Volume 6

Hot, humid, rainy, and busy. That sums up the week. Do I need to go on?

Ok, fine.

Highlights of the Week

Two more archive posts! I have one more to share in my "month from the archives". That puts me at NINE instead of TEN. Which really, really, bugs the OCD piece of my brain.

I talked about toys taking over the house and the loss of my brain. Both related to having two small girls in the house.

I had three new posts. I shared a service I wasn't familiar with, where you can sell old media for cash. That was my initial delve into sponsored blogging. Not sure how I felt about it, but it was nice to think that I might get a little spending money (total, in the year I've been blogging, I've made on average, less than 30 cents a post. I spend at least a few hours on each, so I'm solidly making ten cents an hour. When I think of it that way, I feel less bad selling out occasionally).

I also wrote two posts that were not sponsored. One was on getting a Mother's Helper. I capitalized that because she is AWESOME. Energetic, sweet, friendly, and eager to play. She spent one day playing with the girls while I cleaned, and one at the pool with us. The girls adore having Miss Sarah come to play, and I am counting the hours until she comes again on Tuesday, and I'm starting my argument about how if two afternoons are good, three will be better.

Then I wrote a post that flooded my email and Facebook with comments and messages. People felt that post deeply, either because they knew us, or they'd been through a similar situation, or they could imagine that situation. Keep your eyes peeled - some of the emails indicate that this post may get a further reach than my baby blog and you may see it elsewhere soon.

By the way, I hate, hate, HATE promoting myself, but if you ever read a post that makes you laugh, cry, or react in any way, please share it. I had so many people I didn't know emailing and commenting, thanking me for writing about a situation they could relate to. THAT is why I blog. No one is alone in their situation, and it makes ME feel better to know that I've reached someone else.

OK, self promotion over. Ugh. I hate doing that.

Noteworthy Happenings

This week we were busy. Madison has a full schedule, which is nuts.

I was that mom at preschool storytime drop off on Monday. The email said the story time was 10-11. We've never done it before since it starts at 3 years old, so I didn't know what was normal. Well, she was a little teary at dropoff, so I listened at the door around 10:20 when Reagan was moving into library destruction. Nothing but giggles, so Reagan and I took the stroller out for a walk.

At 10:50, we came back. Madison was all alone with the librarian, reading books. Turns out storytime is a half hour class. Their misprint - the librarian was very nice - but somehow out of a class of fifteen preschoolers, I was the ONLY mom who didn't realize this.

So much for "don't worry, Mommy always comes back", right? Seriously, how was I the only mom who didn't realize? HOW????  Will the other moms be looking at me with disdain tomorrow?

Rest of the week was uneventful, except Adam and I actually had a date night last night! We went to a dinner dance and it was so much fun. Adam actually danced with me - a few times! (And we were the music snobs totally making fun of the band, but still, we were out there!)

Then this morning we had breakfast with friends. Spur of the moment, but a great Sunday treat. Blueberries galore!

Great Things to Read

SO much good stuff this week.

My blogging buddy Lori was on Scary Mommy, advising people on how to keep a clean house.

This blog about being "bikini ready" really spoke to me. I've been super shy about showing off my unbikini ready body at the pool, so this was apt.

PicklesInk reminded me that sometimes all you need is a cup of coffee and a reality check. Loved it.

Amy at Funny is Family had a piece that made it on to HuffPost Parents about things she could do before having kids.

If you follow me on Pinterest, I have a board called "Great Stuff I didn't Write". There's (obviously) a lot of it. As I read blogs throughout the week, I'm constantly pinning there.

On Facebook

I shared two pictures this week.

There's a lot of whining these days. I am ready for this phase to be over.

We're at the pool almost every day, so I had to get myself another bathing suit. It was NOT good for my self esteem.

Can you tell I follow NickMom on Pinterest? I love their graphics.

And I tweeted...once.

Whoops. I knew we needed nighttime pullups, which is why they were on my grocery list. Somehow that didn't register when I went out at bedtime. Madison was thrilled, she got to stay up an extra half hour waiting for "nighttime underwear". Adam was...less thrilled.

Blogkeeping

I am inching closer and closer to 400 Facebook likes and my blog has its first birthday on TUESDAY.  I would love, love, love to reach that milestone by then. If you have a friend or a mom or a dog with a Facebook account, send them my way!

Don't forget - Google Reader is goneMake sure you follow me on Facebook or Bloglovin so you get all my posts in an organized way!

Have an amazing week. By the end of this week I'll have celebrated two birthdays - Madison is turning three and my blog is turning ONE!
