Grinds My Gears

We are now a full month into the new school year. Yes, I know I homeschool, but with so many of our activities having September start dates, and with generally following the school year calendar, it's not a stretch for us to embrace the "new school year" lifestyle.

A full month.

A month is enough time to get in the groove. You've had the schedule for a few weeks. The teachers and coaches have made their requirements and expectations clear. I mean, let's be honest. We're moms with a lot of balls in the air. If you have multiple children, you have double or triple the balls, and yeah, the first couple of weeks are rough. Moms help each other out.

But...

A month is starting to push it with the "oh, do we need those shoes this year?" or "wait, you can't get out in the carpool line at all?" or the "so, we have this class on Tuesday and Wednesday?"

A month is a little late for the teachers to be chasing down your paperwork, or your enrollment fee.

Now you may be wondering, why is this woman so annoyed about something that has nothing to do with her?

Because I'm the one who ends up trapped in the parking lot, because someone pulls up to the drop off/carpool line, and then gets out of the car to help unbuckle/buckle a kindergartener and get them situated. Then traffic backs up, I can't move in any direction, and now everyone is running late. Because I'm the one who has had duo choreography held up, because our partner hasn't gotten the right shoes yet. I'm the one waiting with a kid to get picked up because mom didn't remember.

No, I realize these are first world problems, but if I'm still trapped in the carpool line because someone feels like her kindergartener should be allowed to break the rules, I may just have my very own tantrum!
