KitchenAid Decisions

This past Mother's Day, I got a gift that I have been lusting after for years.

A KitchenAid stand mixer.

Everyone I tell about this falls into one of two categories. Category one is people who got a mixer for their bridal shower and never used it, or people who didn't even register for one because they knew they'd never use it. Category one people cannot believe that I used a Mother's Day gift opportunity on this. They stare at me and say "oh...did you want one?" or "I never use mine" or even "Wow, I would have been so mad!"

Category two people either react with enthusiasm that I have entered the club, or with jealousy because they want one too. They start sharing recipes for bread and pasta and cookies. They give me tips for accessory add ons and how to keep it clean. They ask what color I chose and if I'm loving it as much as I hoped I would.

And I do love it just as much as I hoped I would. Sure, I could have survived without it. But now that I have such an enthusiastic sous chef, we've gotten into making bread. I'm experimenting to get the sequence down to get the perfect airy loaf (although the imperfect loaves are pretty darn tasty too). I've been paying attention when watching the Pioneer Woman making cakes and whipped cream and all kinds of tasty dishes. I am now a huge fan and I don't regret making this my gift request in the slightest.

Now, I did exercise some practicality. In our online research, Adam and I didn't see any big benefit to the color models, except for the obvious "but it's so pretty!" factor. The white model was on sale, so that's what we went with (although Madison made a strong last minute push for pink). But I have to admit, as we researched, I was drawn to the raspberry. I know it doesn't make the bread any airier, but it is just so pretty.

And now...I get to help give one away, and make your kitchen pretty.

If you win, I will totally trade you a slightly used white one. No, I'm kidding. I love my mixer and my family picked it out for me. But I DO love that color.

Here are all the details...and let's trade recipes! What is your favorite thing to make in your KitchenAid mixer, or what would be the first thing you would try to make?
