Staying Cool

It's a sticky, sticky time of year.

Every year I swear that I'm not going to complain about the heat. I get so cold in the winter, and I get so frustrated with all the snow removal and layers that I swear that I will never complain in summer.

And every year it gets tested right around August.

It's just sweaty, and sticky, and no matter what I do, I'm damp and frizzy within an hour. Sweaty and looking like Monica in Barbados.

(By the way, just started using Monat, and I totally love it and suggest it to others, but I would NOT recommend a humid summer as the best time to change your hair routine).

This is the time when I want to hunker down in the a/c. I want to go to the mall, the movies, even just home. But instead, I'm chauffeuring the girls around in the car, I'm sitting by the tennis courts or the pool, while I just bake along with the car.

(Although I did find some ways to keep the car cool while I bake).

So I decided that I'm breaking my complaining vow. I might complain a little in the summer. And I'm not saying that I'm going to embrace the cold in exchange. It's like parenting. If you try to cherish every moment, you'll wind up disappointed and resenting the good days too. Instead, go ahead and complain guilt free when you're melting or shivering, or when the girls aren't showing off their best sides. Then bask in the sunshine on perfect summer days and breath in crisp air when you get a perfect winter day, and reap the compliments on the days when they're adorable and well behaved.

And that way, I'll always keep my cool!
